At Pistachio Mandarin, we recommend students to take internationally recognised exams that are administered by Confucius Institute at Auckland University. There are two types of exams; YCT and HSK.
YCT stands for Youth Chinese Test. There are 4 levels (YCT 1 - YCT 4). It is suitable for students who are learning Chinese as a second language and to improve their communication skills.
HSK stands for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi and is also known as the Chinese Proficiency Test. There are 6 levels (HSK 1 -HSK 6). It is an exam that is suitable for non-native Mandarin speakers which examines the proficiency in the language and culture. The exam consists of a written section and an oral section.
