Yatchun Wong - Founder
Being of Chinese and Malaysian descent, Yatchun has been passionate about finding opportunities for her daughter to learn Mandarin, enrolling her in classes within Auckland. She believes this skill will equip her daughter for the growing global world we live in and it will also give her more cultural understanding and communicate with others. Yatchun has encountered many parents who have the same vision for their children; to engage Kiwi children and focus on oral communication rather than just written skills.
Yatchun is a qualified Accountant with over 25 years of business experience. Throughout her career, she has predominantly worked for small & medium size Enterprises (SME) where the owners have been successful entrepreneurs. Gaining inspiration from her entrepreneurial bosses, Yatchun has set up Pistachio Mandarin Language Centre to focus on educating students to communicate in Chinese in an interactive environment.
Yatchun holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe Univeristy Melbourne, a Master of Business Administration from Waikato University and is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

Hanling Yan - Teaching Staff
Hanling Yan is a Chinese native tutor who has a Bachelor Degree in Psycology and Linguistics from Auckland University. She has a passion in teaching Chinese, as she enjoys sharing her knowledge about the language and her love for Chinese culture. When studying linguistics, she worked as a co-researcher for Dr Rosemary Erlam and published an article “Employer Demand for Language Skills in the Auckland Workforce: a Follow-Up Study”, which has discovered that Mandarin is the language most in demand.
She enjoys working with students by engaging them as active individuals, who contribute to the class. Her philosophy is that teaching is a dynamic process, where students learn to relate their life experiences to the language. In this way, students will have the motivation to use the Mandarin in their daily lives, rather than perceiving it simply as a tool to use in classes.
How Pistachio has helped me: Pistachio Mandarin is a great platform because it provides systematic training's, rich resources and a support system for every tutor . Rawyen has helped me to identify my strength and develop my teaching skills. Pistachio collects every student’s feedback and ensures that tutors reflect upon these suggestions so that we grow together with students.
